Hurray, we did it!!

We’ve been dreaming of launching a new company that is fully dedicated to promoting other indie sellers.  Artists, crafters, designers and other independent entrepreneurs like us who sell handmade, vintage, or limited goods. This idea’s been on the drawing board for a while, but we did our homework and now we’re finally ready to launch it.

We cordially invite you to visit our new site: LuellaLuella.com

If you’r an artist or designer, or just love handmade, vintage, and really unique stuff, then this is the site for you!  We’ll be doing a lot of exciting new projects through Luella over the course of the year and we hope you’ll all stop by regularly.

Let us know what you think.  Thanks!

You'll find the best handmade, vintage, and unique items at LuellaLuella.com

P.S.- we’re giving away 30 days free advertising on our new site too!

This morning we picked our 3 lucky winners of our 1st ever online drawing!

The lucky 3 are:

Angela Brotcke of Geneva, IL
Jill Nelson of W.DesMoines, IA
Amy Saksa of Fountain Valley, CA

These 3 lucky ladies will be receiving a $15.00 off code to use on any future purchase.  That’s almost 3 pendants!  Thank you ladies for being so supportive!

We have been so happy with the outcome of our little online shop.  Everyday it grows a little more and it is because of all our wonderful customers.  We wanted to find to say thank you and that’s when this idea came to us!

We will be doing little contests and give a ways here and there.  It’s just our way of saying THANK YOU for your support!

Hope you all have a beautiful and wonderful day!  :)

All tuckered out...

All tuckered out...

Ever since we started Bite Size Jewelry we’ve received tons of positive feedback and lots of brilliant ideas.  We were so excited when we first started that we wanted to do a little bit of everything!  Necklaces, earrings, rings, charms, you name it, we wanted to try it out.  But, like they say, it takes money to make money and we couldn’t get all the stuff we wanted to right away.  So, we focused on what we knew best–scrabble pendants :)

We began by making designs ourselves, on our little Mac computer.  Lots of cute or witty stuff that we thought people would love.  Then we began reaching out to other artists and adding their artwork to the mix.  Soon all kinds of submissions started pouring in and we’re doing our best to release them all as quickly as we can!  Phew!

Between filling orders, making new pendants, sorting through submissions, and working longer hours at our outside jobs (plus raising 3 children) we’ve had our hands full!  But we love what we’re doing and want to keep on bringing you all the best stuff we can so keep checking back as we start to expand our little shop.

We’re pleased to announce not one, but TWO new artists this week!  Both have a very unique style that we think you’ll enjoy.

The first is Ching Teoh.  Her textured artwork has a very spiritual and inspiring style that appeals to many people.    Please let us know what you think!

With Christmas only 2 months away, we’ve got a lot of work to do to get ready.  We have several more very talented artists to showcase in the coming month.  Their styles vary a lot so we think there should be a little something for everyone.  We just started selling custom pendants as well, which will probably be really popular gifts for the holidays… so we’re getting things ready for that.

But the biggest, most time consuming, and most difficult of everything is marketing and promoting the shop!  We have a LOT of work to do to bring people in before the holidays.  Hopefully all goes well and we roll through Christmas and into the New Year with a great start!

When we first opened our doors to design submissions, we were shocked by how many talented artists sent in their work.  We were even more shocked when we received a submission all the way from Australia!

An example of Catherins pop art style

Catherin McMillan is a very talented artist with two very different styles.  Her acrylic-based pop art style with its bold lines and minimalist colors, and her realistic mixed-media paintings provide something enjoyable for everyone.  We are honored to have her outstanding work available on our pendants and we hope you all love them!

While Catherin focuses primarily on commissioned projects, her work is also available in several galleries or from her directly.  Her paintings have also just been accepted into the prestigous Equine Art Guild which is US based with an array of international artists.

We contacted Catherin for more info about herself… here’s what she had to say:

“Drawing and painting have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  I have worked in a number of styles and mediums over the years and have now come full circle back to the subject I am passionate about, Animals.

Whilst I love to immortalize pets and horses to create special memories for their owners, I am equally as passionate about drawing wildlife.

Originally I trained in watercolour at a private art school which I attended for a number of years.  Ending my time there as the assistant art teacher, I learned a lot about realism in my time there.

After art school I undertook a 2 year drawing course and this is where I discovered chalk pastels. Up until recently I worked in pastels exclusively.

I have rediscovered the joy of watercolours and am now working in this wonderful medium once again along with pastels to create my realistic style of artwork.  Acrylics I reserve for my modern pop art style of art.

Having 2 distinct styles of artwork has opened up all sorts of opportunities, and created a choice for my followers when commissioning a piece for themselves.”

Catherin McMillan’s work can be found in private collections in  Australia, Wales, England, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Canada, Labrador, USA, Brazil, Italy, Paraguay, Germany and Denmark.

Here is what a few of her customers have had to say:

All wore out Boston Terrier scrabble pendant

All wore out Boston Terrier scrabble pendant

We recently received a great email from one of our customers, Lindsey, and her Boston Terrier, Otis.  Here’s what they wrote:

Jed and Brandy:

I recently ordered and received a pendant from your company. I purchased the “All wore out Boston Terrier” pendant by Brian Rubenacker. I received it today, and absolutey love it. I chose this pendant because it reminded me of my own Boston Terrier, Otis. Imagine my surprise, and sheer delight, when I flipped the small pendant over to see that the piece selected of me was, in fact, an “O”! (for Otis.) If I didn’t love the piece already, I am absolutely infatuated with it now.

You guys have a great, unique product. Not only was placing my order a breeze, I received my order in a very short amount of time, and the price was almost TOO reasonable. I am thouroughly impressed with your website, product, and company, and plan to spread the word around my neck of the woods. Thank you so much!

Sincerely,
Lindsey (and Otis) Mahlmeister

We were so happy when we read this we wrote back and sent a discount code along with it.  Lindsey (and Otis) wrote back the following:

Jed & Brandy,

Thank you so much for the discount code! I’m sure you’ll be seeing an order from me soon- these will make great christmas gifts.

I wore my pendant to a parade that Otis and I were in this morning, and got TONS of compliments on it.

Thanks again,
Lindsey
